Jack- Silhouettes and References

Hey guys, this is what I got done today. Somewhat ok with the designs and shapes, but I am having difficulty coming up with interesting shapes and cool shit. This is what I have so far, let me know if anything needs changing, or any advice you guys may have. Excited to work with you guys!

Collette - Silhouettes and Reference sheets

Here are my reference sheets that I'm using. Definitely leaning towards the pitcher plant influence. I've also compiled Mikhail's work onto one image for anyone to use.

Mech Knight Concept / Art Direction

References, art style, inspirations:

Final Goal:
Each Artist will have 1 key art--hero(s) shot with a background

To Create Cohesive style:

- Imagine we are creating extended world of "Mikhail Rakhmatullin" (art style wise)
- Power source symbol (power on/off style with our main shape)
- Power source :
      Electric based: illumination, conductive
      Magnetic based: magnetic force
DO NOTE USE: steam engines or any steam punk style
-levitating floating object or supporting character(s)
- similar color tone:  Slightly subdued, desaturated color scheme.  Try to stay way from using primary colors unless it's an accent color.
- key words: Ancient (characters have been in their land for a long long time), well assimilated, not artificially camouflaged

Andrew
- Tropical Land (wet, hot)
- Environmental elements: birds, insects, tropical plants/trees
- Shape: Circle/triangle
- Color scheme (green/brown, accent: orange)

Abe
- Ocean/sea/shore (wet, cool)
- Environmental elements: rocks with barnacles, waves, seaweed, so on
- Shape: semi-circle with strings or tear drop
- Color scheme (aqua blue, turquoise green, accent: purple-ish)

Collette
- Marshland (wet, warm)
- Environmental elements: carnivorous plants, mud, shrubs, vines, trees, anything else?
- Shape: Circle, triangle --> more like avocado shape, curvy?
- Color Scheme (I forgot your color scheme... so totally guessing here)

Sophie
- High Desert like Mongolia (dry, cold)
- Environmental elements: Rocks, dirt, dried up trees, etc
- Shape: Square
- Color Scheme (Black, brown, accent color: didn't decide yet)
Zack:
- Icy land/mountains (Wet, cold)
- Environmental elements: ice, ice and more ice.  Snow, sharp rocks, dead tress?  icicles
- Shape: triangle
- Color Scheme (White, grey, blue grey,  accent:red)

Hey guys!!

I have a class tomorrow night that I gotta prepare for so I just wanna throw some ideas here to start the discussion.
Through our discussion on the fb group we have:

STORY & CHARACTERS
Knights/witches/demons that are mechs, Fantasy/horror oriented

Some story suggestions:
Macbeth storyline?
Human vs Non human stuff?
Different clans with different level of technology efficiency maybe? Different geological significance & Climate?
Have division of Good vs Evil? (or just have 2 simple clans)

AESTHETICS
Crazy shapes and proportions, still with an element of realism
INSPIRATIONS:
Ian McQue
Nico Marlet, Cory Loftis (animation oriented)
Mikhail Borulko
Emerson Tung
Ashley wood
Andrew Mar
Thomas Scholes
Mikhail Rakhmatullin
....
(this list def needs shortening to make our style cohesive 0.0)

But since I'm so pumped for the clan idea, here's what I was thinking:
I don't know if you guys were familiar with the 4 temperament, (like in Divergent with the 5 fractions. and game of thrones of course) which divides people into 4 types: sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic.
here's a graph that explains it
Those really resemble different clan's characteristic traits and their resembling geological significance. Throw in a 5th one (maybe a clan who's characteristics is slimy and is between good and evil? Live in a swamp or smth like Andrew mentioned), and this could besomething that we can turn into a interesting world dynamic. We can all take ownership of one and go crazy with sketching. They can be divided into 2 good vs 2 evil, or those 4 could be together against the 5th clan.

I don't know if this is making things way too complicated or too poetic sounding...but the clan idea made me think of this, so just throwing it out there :D

No time to do mood board stuff today.. but yeah.
